Making a positive difference to the lives of our clients.
Whether that’s providing that little bit of extra help in our client’s home so they can maintain their independence, or providing round the clock support in our residential care home.
We provide care for adults of all ages, providing residential support for adults with both learning and physical disabilities, as well as providing specialist support for a range of mental health conditions.
There are many different reasons why our clients come to us for help, and often it’s quite a difficult decision to make. As individuals, we don’t always find it easy accepting help, pride can get in the way, but the difference we can make is worth the effort.
It’s not an all or nothing decision, care packages can start with as little as a couple of hours a week to check-in and help the client with their weekly chores.
Support should not feel intrusive and we work hard with our clients and their families to put together care packages that help them enjoy life as best they can. Indeed, nothing is set in stone, we tailor the care to suit the individual.
For those who do feel they need to take the step to moving in with us, people who live here are not just a number – they are treated as the individuals they are, and we ensure that they continue to live as independently as possible.
Choosing the right home for yourself or your loved one is immensely important so if you are considering Melrose House, please do visit us and get a real feel for the place, become familiar with the surroundings, and speak to those who provide care to residents 24 hours a day.
We’re a family at Melrose House and take time to get to know our clients so we can provide the best possible care. We want to be seen as a welcome addition to their lives and not an ‘inconvenience’.

Residential Care Services
Nestled on Cullercoats seafront, our care home not only boasts stunning coastal views but also offers on-site live-in residential care, ensuring a comfortable and supportive environment.

Domicilliary Care Services
We provide domiciliary care for clients throughout Tyne and Wear, providing them with as much or as little help as they need to help maintain their independence.
The Care Quality Commission
The CQC are the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England. They make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care.
They monitor, inspect and regulate services to make sure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety and publish what they find to help people choose care.
We were last inspected in October 2019 and were rated Good. You can learn more about that here.
What are people saying about Melrose House…
On the domiciliary side we get some great feedback from clients and their relatives; complementing our staff on how caring they are, how hard they work, and all with a smile on their face.
Our residential clients are just as happy; complimenting us on our organised approach and our understanding of their needs. Delighted with the support they receive, they feel safe and well looked after, in a warm and welcoming home.
And that’s not surprising; we care for our staff, treating them like family, we communicate with them regularly so we understand their needs and ensure a good work-life balance, we work as a team, and support each other in a friendly environment.
Our family cannot thank you and your staff for all the preparation shown to keep the residents and staff safe.
You have made sure that your staff have always had enough PPE.
Thanks to the staff keeping us up to date with my sister’s recovery from being poorly.
Thank you for letting me know the test results of my relative. This good result is all down to the good management of the home and good staff.
Can I just say again that I really appreciate the care and support that you and the carers provided to Ian.
Their input was invaluable and the positive impact on his overall well-being was abundantly clear, they really went above and beyond for him, thank you and please pass on my thanks to the carers.

It’s OK to ask for help
Accepting you need help can be difficult, pride can get in the way, we can often resist help, when help is exactly what we need. As a relative it can be a very tricky subject to address: “I don’t need help!” “I don’t want shipping off to a care home” Try not to see it...
